Conspire Studio is hosting a Rosh Hashanah Artist Residency from September 10th-17th with guest artists Sonia Marcus and Kat MacÃas.
This week-long spiritual and creative deep-dive will explore inquiries around home, dispossession, and belonging in individual and collective ways.
What does it mean to return home to ourselves, and what helps us be able to do so? What about our collective homes? What might teachings about the mishkan have to illuminate for us about our relationship to ourselves and our homes?

is part of the Cuban and Puerto Rican diasporas and a guest on Cherokee and Muscogee land. They come from a long lineage of spiritual seekers and leaders and carrying this legacy, they have helped build the communities we most need in the world including a DC congregation called New Synagogue Project and Signal Fire (a radical Jewish artists coop). Kat Macias currently serves as the Managing Director of Tzedek Lab and offers spiritual support through their work as a Spiritual Director, Ritualist, and Creative Facilitator through ReclaimSpirituality.com
sonia marcus
is the author of the essays at Return & Fetch It on Substack, where she publishes under the pseudonym Bajla Gertner. She grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in a Reform Jewish family of Polish and French descent that was deeply impacted by the Holocaust. Sonia has been a member of the Asheville community since 2013, holding roles at UNC Asheville and Southern Dharma, and she is a current board member with Carolina Jews for Justice. Sonia co-founded and directs UCP Support Hub, a crisis counseling service for English-speaking activists on the ground in the West Bank.
